Likely a student set and dating about 1930-35, this watercolor set includes original and still pliable and usable watercolor tubes. I looked up the colors used as 'stock' for this purveyor's sets, and all of the colors are from the original set, quite likely French watercolor contracted and labeled for this distributor. Two of the original 3 ceramic pots remain with the set and undamaged, a little paint still in them but will wash out if not wanted for display. The box is mahogany and rather simple but in very good condition. Always suprises me when these stay together and in such good form. Full measurements noted on our photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. As noted, the paint tubes are still pliable and mostly all still full or very nearly full. My research suggests the paints are French and relabeled into British boxes. The box hinges are good, the clasp intact though it doesn't really want to stay locked. Very slight off-set, which might be fixed by attention to the one hinge which seems slightly off. Wood is very good and without cracks or breaks, no corner chips. Bottom is papered. Beautiful old aquarelle set.
