Alphonse DEBAIN, Paris (working 1883-1911) is the creator of this elegant claret (wine) jug, having contracted Baccarat to create the uniquely stunning and deeply wheel-engraved swirling oval decanter. Moves with such grace from display case or bar to your most elegantly set table. Full measurements noted on the photos, liquid capacity is 28 oz, overall height is 11".
Very good to excellent condition throughout, age and type considered. The inner lid and neck have 18k gold 'vermeil' layering and it remains in fine condition. The bulbous oval decanter (we're quite sure it is Baccarat, though unsigned) is a work of art, itself. Heavy blown crystal which has been patterned with deep wheel etching and polishing. More beautiful than our photos capture on this one. There are no imperfections to report - either silver or the Baccarat on this decanter. Interior of the crystal is also clear and ready to use. No haziness. Polished pontil bottom is visible, no signature.
