With a spectacular monture of mother of pearl inlaid with silver and gold and a hand painted leaf with scenes from the French Romantic Era (Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette) outdoor symbols of love and courtship. These elegant little works of art are museum pieces at this point and I do not suggest you try to take it out or put it to use, no matter how tempted you are to take it to Opera. I've shown 2 similar age fans as just a Museum peek into the collection on view at the Kremlin Armoury Chamber, Moscow, Russia (my photo). Full measurements noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. Monture in fine form with a single restoration on one guard, which seems not to be professional (oddly cut mother of pearl 'patch') but which is strong and holding very firmly if there might once have been a break there, and is only visible from backside (highlighted for your review). The hand painted leaf, front and back, have some imperfections at folds, but remains without restoration or tears of a major sort. Paste gems on the ring are each still complete and in place, as are all the silver and gold inlays. A very beautiful old treasure, roughly 230-220 years of age.
