Mid-late 19th C Chinese turquoise porcelain Buddha and cups similar to earlier Sevres decorative arts that has been renvisioned with late French 19th C gilt brass/bronze mounts into a inkwell set. The beautiful old double inkwell and pen stand has that Chinese red lacquer surface on a heavy thick base, perhaps bronze - surprisingly heavy. Bottom is lined with a similar panel of black lacquer, showing some loss there. The porcelain is undamaged and reminiscent of earlier sets and figures on lamps by Sevres, or noted as Old Paris. I love the look of this old treasure! Measurements are noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. No chips nor damage to the porcelain pots or Buddha, a heavy base with Chinese red lacquer covering which does show some marks of advanced age but remains just beautiful against the Celeste blue. The tray is raised on bronze lathe-turned legs. Photos show it all, plus measurements.
