Rare antique Victorian era Black Forest hand carved 9 1/4" tall smoker's stand, a large FOX figure with 2-tone glass eyes, hollowed to hold cigars or cheroots with match holder & striker base! Mounted on a heavy oval wood plinth, this lovely Black Forest treasure is in the form of a large fox figure. Shown in a playfully begging pose, upright on his haunches with front paws on his chest as if pleading for a treat :). The figure is hollowed out, hinged at the neck so his head opens up and back to the space within. Small or shorter cigars to fit, as shown in the pictures, or it could be just for loose tobacco. Two hollowed logs on the base for matches, spent and new, with a striker panel between. Wonderful figure, the fox is one of the more rare of the Black Forest critters and this one is both large and finely carved.

Very good condition. The striker panel has a newer sand paper adhered to it that could be removed or replaced if you wish. A small nip or two possible but, as you can see, there are no large chip or repairs to note. There is a small age/drying split visible to the back bottom of the carved figural top (through the fox's right rear paw and oval base (not the plinth however). See pictures for all measurements.
