One of the very most beautiful of all my collections of hand fans. Iridescent shimmer of rainbow color across the feathers is unique and stunning. A few fan collectors might have one in their collection, but no one I know has one this lush, complete and undamaged. The tiny feathers are those breast feathers of the ring neck pheasant, and are small and fine in form. Each stick/rib is worked entirely by hand, one tiny feather at a time, laid upon each other in sublime evenness, and in total create the most lush feather fan. Combined with the richness of the chocolate colored tortoise shell, the effect is sensual in the hand, and thrilling to the eye. Both front and back of the fan are just gorgeous. It is 24.5 cm at the guards, 32 cm long including the feathers, when folded, and it has a span of 62 cm. My restorer has completed a re-ribboning with silk that compliments the feathers, so it is solid and sturdy for another century. This is one you will definitely want to use, and it's in perfect condition for that.
Very good to excellent condition, lush and complete and without thinned areas, no loss of feathers (thousands!). Beautiful and excellent tortoise shell, as you can see. No breaks, no cracks, and no bug bites. This one has been so carefully stored for more than a century to survive this well. It's been in my collection for decades.
