I love these 19th century whimsical little French souvenirs of someone's visit to the west coast beaches of French, 19th century. This one is well-preserved. Of these mother of pearl trinkets, this one a souvenir meant to hold a pocket watch (see the little hook) and a few flower stems, a bedside stand or 'vide poche', which literally means 'empty pocket', it stood at bedside and held jewelry and the contents of ones pockets through the night, as well as . The item could be a desktop caddy, or jewelry box, as well. Full measurements noted on our photos.
Very good to excellent condition throughout. I don't find so much as a chip on any of the mother of pearl. Pocket watch stands and flower vase (not a single chip on the glass, either). I buy these whenever I can find them complete. We've had perhaps 12 through the 3 decades we've been doing this.
