Splendid c.1770s portrait miniature of a beautiful Georgian woman, whether English or French (purchased in France), it seems so surprising to me the artist has not signed this one. Exceptional in all aspects, down to each hair, and her bouquet of flowers, all have magnificent attention to detail. Much finer than those done later as Grand Tour souvenirs, I think she has posed for this painting. She has a look of Mrs. Siddons, a noted English Socialite of the Georgian era, and it would not surprise me to see a noted artist's signature, perhaps Cosway - yet there is none. Measurements are noted on our photos.
Very good to excellent all the way with this one. I can't find a single flaw to note. Perfectly preserved in her frame and beneath her convex cover glass (forgive the glares, please), she is just spectacular. Please note, the c.1700s intaglio print upon which I have photographed miniatures helps me a lot with processing as it gives a very balanced color. It is not included with the portrait miniature. Just a prop.
