Dating mid-1800s, it is perfect, appears to have never been used at all so a very treasured item even back then. Still in the original silk velvet lined and fitted interior into which it fits perfectly. The box was created to hold just this exact work of art. Extra large, delicately carved as one would find from the carvers of Dieppe. Incised and lac beetle inked monogram is intertwined E and S, works either way. Full measurements noted on photos. Large and heavy 200 year old (at least) ivory.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eVery good to excellent, the carving is pristine throughout. The presentation box is perfect inside and has some imperfections commensurate with age on the outer box which can be improved with a little cordovan shoe polish past and soft cloth. Hinges are fine and clasp works perfectly. A museum piece, just excellent.
