A slightly demure look on that beautiful French face, she sat for her portrait during the Napoleon III Era, c. 1850-70s, and wears the fashion and jewelry of her time. Seated in a simple chair that is wood, leather and upholstery tacks and with a shawl, her narrow waist with a ribbon belt and oblong buckle. Simple elegant jewelry with the brooch and earrings set with pale blue stones. White gown, perhaps her wedding portrait since years earlier Queen Victoria set a new fashion of white wedding gowns - or perhaps it was just summer.  Superb lighting, the artist was definitely very talented and likely well-trained, yet we have no signature, unless the faded pencil notations on backside of the panel might have been a notation no longer readable. She is painted in oil on a solid heavy card, artist's panel, and rests in her original period frame in the Fontainebleau manner, gesso and gilt finish on wood frame.  Full measurements noted on the photos.

Excellent condition for age and type. No losses to either painting or frame. A portrait of superb appeal.
