Fabulous antique to vintage oil painting on canvas in ornate 35.5" gilt gesso & wood frame, listed Hungarian artist Romek ARPAD (1883-1960): a still life of desk with antique books, portraits and wax sealed writing papers & candle! A wonderful painting, I just love the subject, being a collector of both portrait miniatures and wax seals/writing accoutrement! I've done just a bit of research on the artist and you can see a variety of his work online. Here's a bit of info found: Romek Ãrpád (Budapest 1883 - Budapest 1960) Romek Ãrpád was a Hungarian born still life painter who worked in a naturalistic representational style in oil. His work is usually characterized as realistic and contains kitchenware, fruit, glasses, and books on table tops. The frame appears to be original and is also fabulous, ornate with a gilded finish and in great shape. Perfect for the collectors!
Very good to excellent condition. No damage that I can see to the painting, no flaws to the canvas, etc. The frame is also in great shape with just a tiny flaw or two. See pictures for all measurements.
