Lovely antique Victorian to early Edwardian era Black Forest hand carved 15.75" jardiniere or plant box with pierced or reticulated facade including winged griffin or gryphon figures and framing a lovely little oval petit point with fox and lamb! A bit of damage, the rear feet have been broken off but it still stands even and steady due to the center rear carving. It does have the original metal liner and the front & sides, what really matter :), are gorgeous. Even the replacement petit point panel fits the theme with a fox and lamb figures, flowers and a bow & ribbon at the bottom. A wonderful decorative accent!
Very good condition. As noted above, the rear side feet are missing but it does stand straight and stable. The needlepoint or petit point panel is not original but of similar age and the theme is perfect, much better than what was in it originally I'm sure. See images for all measurements.
