I can make out the "1823" below an unreadable signature on this one. What a rare beauty she truly is. Large expressive blue eyes and a Cupid's bow mouth, her blond hair swept up in the fashion of her time, and trimmed with 2 simple and elegantly placed royal blue ribbons. A young woman this stunning needs no jewelry. I found her in France.
Very good to excellent for age and type. Well-preserved under the original convex cover glass, and backed by a copper or brass backing, the wafer has not warped at all. There is, however, a very tiny hairline of maybe 3/16" down from the very top of the wafer. At some point in time, someone has put adhesive tape over that, which one can see from the front of the portrait. Shown in our photos both front and back, I really don't dare try to remove it for fear the motion and pressure would extend that hairline. A small distraction, which wouldn't have been even noticeable had they simply left her alone. That mentioned, she is just very fine, isn't she. Wood frame, brass mat, convex cover glass.
