Late 18th to earliest 19th century French needlepoint, likely originally an upholstery salvage from the back of a chair, and my bet would be late 18th century from subject and type of stitches - made up into a decorator throw pillow. This one is rather simple, and you might decide you want French passementerie trim or braid to frame it in (sew on by hand - it's simple), or even just tassels on the corners. This one is a panel 11" square and pillow depth without fluffing it up is approximately 5". Full measurements also noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, no holes nor tears and no missing nor moth-damaged stitches. There is one pulled stitch which can be improved with just needle and thread and a few minutes. The variation in color in photos seems to have been due to low light and augment from a small hand-held light. Every stitch done by hand around 200 years ago - imagine. The materials and the old wool needlepoint and petit point salvage panel are all clean and odor free, ready to be enjoyed for another couple hundred years.
