Elegant antique French sterling silver 5pc skewer or "hatelet" set with Classical or Empire style acanthus accented pattern and Maison Puiforcat silversmith marks! I could swear that we originally had a set of six of these but, alas, I've only managed to find five so that's the extent of this set (we'll change the listing if the sixth shows up). An elegant set nonetheless, all bear the post-1878 French Minerve or Minerva hallmark. The tiny number "1" within means they're in .950 silver (95% pure and so above the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith marks are, of course, for Maison Puiforcat (EP for Emile Puiforcat), one of the most notable of French makers. Silversmiths to royalty and now owned by Hermes, Paris. One of a few of these old hatelet sets I'm working at getting listed so check back often.
