Boxes! I've always loved beautiful boxes. This is an early 1800s French vanity travel set, elegantly carved in solid wood, a gentleman's necessaire which would have held, from the carved recesses, a razor strop, razor, scissors, tweezers/ear wax spoon tool, pocket knife, toothbrush. For the razor collector out there - a project piece! Full measurements noted on photos.
Very good condition for age and type, but missing its set of vanity tools. The cover slides smoothly still in its carved slots and the beveled mirror remains undamaged. No warp anywhere, and the old wood is just gorgeous! The mirror is hinged to become its own shaving stand/mirror, as shown.
