Oval in form, perhaps made as a doily or table cover initially, but made up into a really beautiful pillow and 2" or so of the lace creates a self-fringe. I'm not a lace expert, and there are so many types of handmade lace from the past. If you recognize it, please email me so I'll have my description right. Thanks. The satin backing the pillow and underlying the old lace is a champagne colored silk which sets off the lace very nicely. I envision it having been made up or used as a ring bearer's cushion for a wedding and it would be lovely used thus and kept forever as a keepsake. I've put it with a few other needlework pillows, settings, just to show how it works with anything. The fill is soft, but not down, it does not crease like down-fill would but holds its puffy form. Slight wrinkle in satin because it's been stored in a bag since I bought it years ago in London.
Very good condition for age and type. There are a few flaws to do quick mend on in the lace top. Nothing drastic, just a fragile spot open and needing a needle and thread and a few minutes time and care. The lace edging or ruffle is just gorgeous, and I have not done it justice with the photos, I"m afraid. Measurement is the full lace top, including the fringe, as close as I can measure it over the full oval form. No odors at all.
