I just love watching movies, don't we all! Unfortunately, a lot of times I catch myself paying more attention to the settings rather than the plots. The interior decor and especially do so when watching a movie set in the 1700-1800s. All of the beautiful decorative items they use as props, we've even had a studio or two ask us about sending pieces out on approval to use in sets. In any event, you nearly always see a great old barometer hanging on the wall and this week we're adding a few more fine old Victorian to Edwardian pieces. This one impressive, French or Swiss as the barometer dial text would indicate and hand carved in the Black Forest style with reticulated case & foliate accents. A brass framed aneroid barometer on the lower end, the paper dial with French text and has a maker or retailer along the bottom "Rob. Forster, Verviers" (Belgium now). The original centigrade thermometer is intact and mounted on a milk glass panel. Of course, we really don't have time to test the accuracy (and the weather here in Southern California is pretty much the same everyday) but they always make simply fabulous decorative accents and, with the myriad of sources for the weather, not many of us would be checking these to determine how our day is going to be :).

Very good condition. I see no chips, breaks or repairs but the card barometer dial is a bit stained and there are two tears to the outer card ring at about the two and five o'clock positions. There is some wear/loss to the enamel markings on the thermometer plaque. Possible a small chip or two but, as you can see, the piece is in overall wonderful shape. See pictures for all measurements.
