I recently bought a partially filled but beautiful c.1820 French Palais Royal sewing box, intending to sell off its parts separately. Here you have the unmatched 6 silk winders (thread 'spool' in snowflake forms) that were inside. There are 3 that seem to have come from a single matching set, and the others are in mother of pearl, carved delicately although as you can see, one has a lobe/point broken. Measurements are noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent for age and type. Just one has a flaw but it's such a pretty carved mother of pearl one, I've left it with the others. There are 6 in all, not matched other than the 3 in same form though in both ivory and mother of pearl. Typically silk winders are missing from these old sets, so here's a chance to fill your open spaces, or to add to your own collection. These would have been wound with embroidery silk threads in their own time/era. You are buying the set of 6 silk winders. Other items will be offered separately.
