I recently bought a partially filled but beautiful c.1820 French Palais Royal sewing box, intending to sell off its parts separately. Here you have the wonderful pair of large (almost 6" long) spool clamps in steel. They're highly polished and decorated at the top with stars. A 1.25" opening to the clamp for use on a tabletop, the spool would be wound with crochet thread, and rotates easily as once works on crochet or tatting lace. These pieces are rare, and date French Empire. I've shown the old box with the clamps in their perfectly fitted recesses. The box will be sold separately, as will the few other tools. Found in France. Full measurements of the spool clamps pair are noted on our photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, I see no flaws to note, the spools turn easily and there is very little corrosion on the old steel. Clamp screw turns smoothly - very functional! As noted, rare to find.
