A wonderful Napoleon Iii or perhaps earlier (c.1850-70 - mid-Victorian) display case, cabinet with old 'laid' glass (ripples in early glass) in both sides and set into the arched top hinged door. The arched detail of the top and style suggests Louis-Philippe era, or just earlier than 1850.  The hardwood veneer is a beautiful grain and remains fully intact. It is a dark walnut or similar - perhaps rosewood. Nicely hinged and with a latch closure, it is a lovely display case or bookcase for a doll's house, doll furniture size and likely the work of a cabinetry apprentice. With addition of an interior bar up top, one could hang the wardrobe of a Bru doll so outfits are visible. Or add a shelf and display your collection of portrait miniatures, or similar. Full measurements are noted on the photos.

Very good to excellent condition for age and type. Found in France, the old glass panels are all old originals. There is not an interior lining, so that is a little project (easy) for its next owner, depending upon their taste and desire for function. There are no chips or losses to the beautiful veneer. One can see age from back, too, and a few very typical holes from a long ago woodworm. No active infestation. Yes, it could be a small vitrine hung on wall, or bun feet could be added easily to raise it a little more - or just as it is for a tabletop or shelf display case. These are very hard to find these days - we're always searching!
