Whether you build a wall cabinet and use this as your door, or you hang it as a work of art on your walls, you're certain to love the result. A gorgeous hand carved 19th century panel, this one would have been a door on an elaborate library book cabinet, or a buffet, hutch - you just can't find this kind of work, nor the heavy old forest growth wood today at anywhere near the affordability of the old ones, and they're always nicer. The finish is elegant, too. I know this was a cabinet door rather than a wall paneling salvage, and I've shown you the hardware that remains. There is a lock, we don't have a key. Very good to excellent, I can't find a chip anywhere. The carving it lively and adeptly accomplished. Neoclassical theme, symmetry in the figures and the center pillar also retreat the old lyre a bit - do you see it? The moulding frame and corners are all crisp, undamaged, beautifully preserved. Stain and finish, undamaged and gorgeous! Begs to be built in as a door to a recessed wine cabinet, don't you agree? Architectural and furniture salvage - so beautiful with an antique-accented home or among modern furnishings, either one.
