Fine antique Victorian era Black Forest hand carved 8.25" desk top thermometer stand (a mirror replacing thermometer & plaque) with very unique pastoral themed lamb or sheep & herder figures!  For anyone who follows the decorating style of Tulsa's Charles Faudree (and I do!), you've seen his own rare Black Forest cows in several homes he's decorated over time. He's got a couple of decorator books out now, and he's always in the magazines we love to look through, from Veranda and Southern Accents to House Beautiful and I think he's even been in Architectural Digest, but not sure. But I digress - what I meant to say is that for years I've been looking at and admiring those wonderful old Black Forest cows.  A great decorative accent, rare figures and sure to please!

Good-very good condition. This one missing the original thermometer and plaque, a mirror in that space now. It could be that the thermometer was damaged or possibly removed because it was the older type with mercury (basically illegal now).  A few chips to the wood here & there, the tips of the animals' snouts and brim of the herder's hadare most evident.  See pictures for measurements.
