Delightful antique Victorian era Swiss Black Forest hand carved single inkwell with hollow log pen tray, a charming seated Brienz style bear figure with overcoat, stocking cap and apple clutched in right paw!  Truly wonderful, the bear figures with black glass bead eyes and the detail is lovely.  Hand carved from one solid block of wood, the log pen tray and bear skillfully chiseled down to the work you see here.  The bear holding an apple in its right paw, as if pondering Newton's law of gravity.  A lobed glass inkwell on the right side, complete with carved lid.  A wonderful addition for the Black Forest collector or inkwell enthusiast.  Fabulous figure, wonderful detail & condition!

Very good condition.  There is a bit of chipping to the front edge of the log pen tray and a few small chips to the inkwell's wooden lid.  The glass inkwell itself has a few small nips to the lower flared edge.  See images for measurements.
