We've acquired a couple of these superbly preserved c. 1890-1920 hand carved Swiss Black Forest jewelry chests from a French estate, this one signed on bottom by its carver (initials). This one is slightly smaller than the other, and has a single mountain goat up top (one horn chipped about in half), and with a beautiful original and very finely preserved cream-colored silk satin interior, the original lock and key.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. One horn has a chip (view images) Remarkable to find any of these with so little loss. The hinged compartments swing smoothly, there is no warp, no woodworm, it's just lovely start to finish. The Swiss Edelweiss flower decoration each "drawer" makes it a wonderful Grand Tour souvenir, which it most likely was originally - and can be representing your own visit or heritage. No odors, no stains. Ready to display and love.
