An early 1900s Grand Tour souvenir of Tirol, (Tyrol) which is an area that, while a State, neighbors Austria's Salzburg and the Italian province of South Tyrol (formerly part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire before WW1). The tray is carved in floral relief on that outer band, then hand painted i a floral garland and the title, "Tirol". A mountain vista, alps, and a country church and buildings, including a chalet, invite the Grand Tour tourist to revisit the experience, and is a wonderful decorative platter. Made like the old breadboards, it's too pretty to use. The center circle is all an oil painting.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, the 11" diameter plate is in light wood, likely Linden or lemon wood from the region. Entirely painted front, the black inner recess of which ha a few rubs or paint losses to its outer rim that one might want to touch up. You can see them and evaluate in our images. This one is just in, purchased in France. Such a fun one for the Grand Tour traveler in you!
