Often connected to the boutiques flanking the old Palais Royal garden promenade, and dating to early 1800, the whimsical semi-translucent 'opaline' glass 'eggs' were sometimes fitted with a sewing set, or a scent bottle, or filled with bonbons of the chocolatiers there in that center of elite commerce, theatre, dining. This one is open to use as you wish, or just to display. Very pretty, nice large size. Full measurements noted on photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. No cracks or breaks or chips to the mouth-blown glass, and the ormolu framework and acorn finial also are fully complete, no losses, no breaks.
