Stunning! I remember finding this exquisite pair of figural tapestry panels, each one is large at 89" long and 15" wide. For decades I've SO loved buying in France. These I've had in my collection, archival stored, waiting for me to redecorate a bedroom specifically for them. I'm not likely to do that now, and it's time to let them go to someone who will love them as well and enjoy them. One of the 2 has been completely restored (you can see the work from backside, all by hand with needle and heavy thread). The other one will need the same in some areas (see images). If the idea of long vertical Wal hangings doesn't work for you, consider you can make at least 4 opulent pillows our of each of the 2 panels. Made up as pillows, this type go for $2k each and up, depending on the lush passementerie, trims, size. Full measurements are noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. One of the 2 large panels has already been completely restored, and the other has not and will need some restoration, perhaps, ahead of mounting them for wall (add a 3" velvet or silk border to compliment them, or frame them, perhaps). If you plant to cut them into sections for perhaps 2 wall hangings featuring the woman's figure at bottoms, then the rest of the panels working into matching decorator throw pillows for the same room (I was going to do exactly that), the pale yellow to wode blue dyes will thrill you and 'make' the room! I will mention, the nicely finished one is folded over nearly 2" at top. Looking at backsides, you can see that there is little if any fading to either one, meaning they have never been hung in sunlight and do not have yarn rot associated with that. They also are clean and do not have unpleasant odor. I only collected the very best all these years. Aren't these 2 spectacular! C. 1600s - amazing pair!
