Superb antique 19th century French laurel and oak leaf, acorn, award medal for music, .800/1000 solid silver with a brilliant 18k gold layer (vermeil) that means it was the gold medal, 1st or top award. Gold embossment on green silk interior tells us the maker was "Le Medaillier", 13, rue Conservatoire PARIS". The mounting brackets remain with this one, as well, and all perfectly preserved and treasured in the original presentation case. All we don't know is to whom it was presented nor what year. Perhaps never awarded since it isn't engraved at all. The tiny punch mark used by France in control affirms it is .800/1000 pure silver, a better choice for thin casting like this since it's not quite as fragile as is the higher .950/1000 pure standard. A fabulous piece! Directly in from France, we can never keep these in inventory and this might well be the most lovely of all we've ever found of these laurel and oak leaf awards. Don't miss it!

Very good to excellent throughout, without any loss or damage to note. It has been stored and tucked away. The gold vermeil layering is superb, not lost by polishing. The silver is .800/1000 pure, guarantee is the tiny boar's head mark we've also shown in our images. Superb to have it still in the old original presentation case, which also is in very nice condition for age. A real treasure, the box is 11" long. The award is slightly bent at top to fit in box but it is about 10" in length. Weight of the silver: 45.5 grams. The entire item in box is 255 grams.
