Antique signed Duvelleroy 28cm French hand fan. Firm founded in Paris in 1827 by Jean-Pierre DUVELLEROY, lauded as maker of some of the most beautiful fans of France over the centuries. Hand colored intaglio print showing French Empire couples. Sequins hand embroidered onto the silk, and pique and foil on bone monture. Opens to 21" and is in very nice condition but without boac. c.1890-1900.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. Some loss of tiny sequins primarily on borders. No breaks. Fan is signed and stamped on the silk leaf, as well: Duvelleroy 274 (likely the intaglio print number or run). Beautiful old thing! It does not have a box, but is in very nice treasured condition.
