A remnant of the Empire Revival of France's last Emperor, Napoleon III (Napoleon Bonaparte's nephew, Louis-Napoleon), this elaborate and quite large French paste stone (faux diamond) tiara is still set with a stunning 59 cut paste gems that look for all the world like real diamonds. Such is the lasting fame and allure of the French paste gems. None missing, and no replacements, it is ready to become your own collection star, or to be worn. I do not think the metal is silver, but it might be a lower silver alloy. I do not see a mark that would indicate it as .800/1000 or higher silver content.
Very good to excellent condition throughout. Beautifully crafted. I've tried to show you in our many views, just how lovely and old it is. Dates c. 1850-80. An later elastic has been added, but even it is quite old. Clear, bright - very opulent! Measurements noted on our photos. Larger than the Napoleon era Empire tiaras, which we've grouped with it on one of the final photos. Added images show that it has flexibility, adjustable by the tightness of the elastic cording, giving great variations in how it can be worn.
