An exquisite & rare pattern here, a complete 24pc antique French sterling silver flatware set and as visually striking as can be! A complete 2pc table setting for TWELVE that consists of twelve each in the entremet, luncheon or dessert sized forks & spoons! Amazing detail to the raised pattern, the stems are adorned with winding vines & foliage. The handle fronts with fruit & flower filled cornucopias and the backs with shield shaped monogram medallions showing interlaced monograms and a lovely caduceus symbol with intertwined serpents, winged helmet and staff. The caduceus and winged hat are both symbols related to Hermes, the messenger of the Gods....and this set definitely looks as though it was hand delivered by the Gods :). Gorgeous! Thick & heavy, each piece weighs, on average, around 54 grams or 1.74 troy ounces! All pieces bear the post-1838 French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within those marks designate them as being in .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). Silversmith marks are for Henin & Cie (Company), 77 rue des Archives, Paris from 1896. One of the more visually impressive patterns that we've had over the years and guaranteed to please the senses (and impress you & your guests every time you use them). Magnificent!
Very good to excellent condition. These pieces are over 100 years old so they will have slight signs of usage but, as you can see, they're as near pristine as one could hope for. Total weight for the set is 1285 grams or 41.3 troy ounces. See pictures for all individual weights and measurements.
