Portrait miniatures of children are rare. Portraits of truly beautiful children, rarer still. We have a gorgeous little girl, about age 4-5, painted as delicately as is childhood in memory. Long blond hair with natural curl to it and grey-blue eyes with a dreamy sideward gaze. Oh, she's just stunning! And a cursory investigation for the signature, which I believe is Nina Pagnani, give me nothing. I wonder if it is the name of the little girl, instead. Dated on the wafer, 1895, it is a bit later than most portrait miniatures we bring home. A bit of the Impressionist about this one, I bought her in France. Her original frame is carved wood with a bronze bow top. Cover glass is original and in place, and measurements are noted on the photos.

Very good to excellent condition for age and type, no warp, no cracks, no damage other than age to the old wooden frame (view images to evaluate). A personal favorite. I don't know her origin, having purchased her in Paris. Perhaps a Grand Tour traveler (family) and a French or an Italian artist. The back opens with 4 tiny screws. I did not open it, might do so and add images.  Measurements noted on the photos.
