Such a beautiful old thing, Excellent preservation for age, owing to it having the large bottom portion of the original hand painted box, no loss or damage to the bone monture which is accented in raised gold enamel. The leaf remains in very good condition as well, I see no sequins missing, all of which are hand-embroidered on the silk leaf, and the hand painted motifs are very 'Marie-Antoinette' though the fan will date to early 1900s. Very good to excellent condition for age and type, very nicely preserved in hand painted box originally made for it, though its top is missing, as our photos show. I find no signature on the fan. Gold foil 'ribbon' at edges hardly has a disruption and no tears. It seems like a fan saved and not used - perhaps a souvenir of a Ball, or an event, tucked away. Wrist band with tassel also in fine condition for age. Stunning display fan! Found in France.
