Aren't these great! Here we have a near pristine set of antique French Napoleon III era cake or melon forks with carved handles and French hallmarked silver plate blades & tines! A wonderful addition to your fine dining table setting, the shape of the pieces is specifically fashioned for cake and/or melon with a curved knife style blade on one side for cutting and the fork tines for piercing the pastry, cake or fruit. Silver plate, not sterling silver, the blades/tines all bear small hallmarks that appear to read "Pariso", also marked with the maker or retailer "Touron". The handles are all solid, carved in a simple but elegant shape. All beautifully preserved in the original fitted storage and/or presentation box, black leatherette covering. The inside front rim of the box has a gilt embossed mark of "Touron, 24 Rue de la Paix" and there is a paper stamp on the front that reads "Couteau a Melon" (melon fork). A lovely set, complete and in great shape. Don't miss them!
Very good condition. Just as you see them with no loss to the silver plating, no bends breaks or repairs. The handles do have some age/drying cracks, common in this material and with the age. See pictures for measurements.
