If you can't decide which painting you love most, you can always alternate and enjoy them both. The one on backside is looser, very Impressionist, and likely older. Seems likely it is not even by the same artist, so perhaps a panel of wood salvaged and used on the reverse side some 40 or so years later? Interior paintings are quite sought after, and this one pleases in many ways. The blond reader is relaxing upon her floral settee, 2 paintings on her walls and a pottery pitcher on her French table. A very cohesive palette which has slight departure in the brilliant red of her dress or robe.  In some ways the Impressionist swaths of color on back becomes my favorite. . . and then I turn it over again.  The thin board is wood, and is 18 3/4" x 15 1/4" and about 3/16" thick. Recently in from France.

Very good to excellent condition for age and type, I see no evidence of it ever having been framed - no marks from sliding in rabbit of frame. Unusually slim board, I do see some long grain lines vertically in a couple of places through the old oil paint. There is no signature on either of the 2 paintings. Again, they do not seem like they are the same period nor same artist. Quite enchanting, in total!
