A project set, beautifully preserved lift-out tray which has just 2 of the original sewing tools - a thimble and a needle case. Beautiful burled box is in excellent shape inside and out, and certainly worthy of searching out other sewing implements to complete it. You see the fittings for a pocket knife, a crochet tambour, a folding pen, tweezer and ear wax spoon, and scissors. The set likely came from the old Palais Royal boutiques originally, and fitted as it is, openings in lower level for inkwells, seems like a gentleman's desk or writing set.
