Exceptional & large antique French Napoleon III or Victorian era 10 1/4” tall gilt ormolu sailboat double inkwell with figural accents, compass & anchor, twisted wire riggings, two inkwells with sailor’s cap lids and surely Baccarat ribbed glass hull! Isn’t this one fantastic! Found on our recent trip to Paris, nestled in a vendor’s space and Susan, Ashley and I saw it at the same time, sparkling there from 20’ away. Pristine is the only way to describe this one, as you can see in the pictures. The inkwells held in a removable gilt caddy with a large fish, seashell, small binoculars and what appears to be a working compass. The inkwells themselves adorable with sailor’s cap lids, complete with ribbon, both faceted with round bases that insert into the caddy. The hull of the boat surely Baccarat, that ribbed style basically a signature style though it’s not marked in any way. A fabulous decorative piece, don’t miss it.
Very good to excellent condition. No chips or cracks to any of the glass, no losses, damage or repairs to note. Only a bit of tarnish in a few spots. See pictures for all measurements.
