Likely Napoleon III, or Second Empire rather than First Empire, but the styling is perfect for either one. Dore Bronze frame and appliqué with both a hanging loop and an easel stand, it could fit right on Napoleon's desktop at Malmaison. Lots of age to it. I have oiled the wood (after the initial photo, showing it before it was oiled) and it is gorgeous. Thermometer works perfectly, is centigrade. A heavy piece for its size, measurements are noted on photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. There is a single flaw notable and that is the bottom tip of one piece of appliqué there on the wood, upper left side, is missing one small lobe. Do you see it? If I didn't point it out you might miss it. Beautiful old accent piece!
