All the decorator magazines are showing lots of framed antique prints and drawings. Over the decades I have collected hundreds of antique drawings and fine intaglio prints, some dating as far back as 1500s. This is a c. 1790 18th century copper plate intaglio print I've loved on my own walls, professionally framed about 25 years ago. Skeleton of a horse, likely out of a large reference book used by veterinarians, the composition is as fine and interesting as is the control of shadow and lighting with addition of both point engraving and acid washes. . I bought the print in Paris. The special mat was cut, and I wanted a bevel in black to range in the actual copper plate indentation, which is visible. The result has always pleased me. "Published by C. Cook c.1790" and more in French on the print. Full measurements noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition as noted above. Intaglio print is 18th century. noted c.1790. Frame and archival cover glass is about 25 years old, cost $300 back then, and is in excellent condition, as shown on my own walls in final photo.
