GOOSSENS Frére & Soœur, (brother and sister) 32, ave de l'Opera, PARIS on the paper label with peacock.French, very fine condition in total and still in box. 22cm long, folded. Very delicate pale pink with lots of sparkles, sequins and a unique (to me) ring for wrist band/tassel. Stunning hand made fan in pale pink silk, rippling rainbows of mother of pearl, bone ribs, and a cornucopia of fabulous sparkles, each sewn on by hand, thin silk threads. Beautiful from back as well as front on this one, and no deterioration to the old leaf. I find a similarly crafted and sized one by same maker, in collection of the MET, NYC, which is dated c.1870s, and notes the maker was in business starting 1850.

Quite excellent condition throughout without shredded silk, and the sequins seem all to be still in place. No breaks or restorations on the monture which is all mother of pearl and bone.
