Delightful antique French hand painted portrait miniature or miniature waiting of a lovely young maiden with doves and basket of eggs, displayed in an ornate filigree style reticulated bronze frame and after the original “Girl with Doves” by Jean-Baptiste Greuze (1735-1805)! A beautiful little painting and, while the detail may not be as breathtaking as the Greuze original, it is definitely impressive given the small scale. Vivid colors, fantastic subject and the frame is wonderful. Signed on the upper right side with “a. Greuze” surely for apres (after) Grueze.
Very good to excellent condition. I removed the painting to scan and enlarge the photos so you can see some edge rubbing from the frame but no chips or damage to note. All beautiful. See pictures for all measurements.
