Fabulous antique French Napoleon III era 9 3/4" Catholic icon or plaque with beautiful aged burled wood mat, enamel & bronze frame and gilded cross with crucified Christ figure! A beautiful piece and the condition is really quite remarkable, not a hint of loss or damage to the navy and near turquoise blue enamel and only a tiny bit of visible wear to the gilding on the cross and figure. The plaque is 9.75" x 6 1/8" making it a truly impressive piece but not overwhelming in size. A paper label on the backing is partially legible and appears to read "D...S-Delahaye, 28 Rue Nationale, Tours". A beautiful decorative and/or devotional piece, don't miss it!
Very good to excellent condition. Mostly noted above with no enamel loss or restoration, no losses to the burled veneer mat and only a hint of wear to the gilding on the cross & fiture. See pictures for all measurements.
