Isn't she superb! Amber eyed brunette beauty with her black velvet gown and slash of red in her turban or slouch velvet hat, trimmed in silver or beadwork. Demure in the way only a midi-teenager can be, yet a full-on question of a gaze which resonates these 200 years later. She is spectacular! Still sealed to her vellum backing, she is in gouache on wafer and housed under the original convex cover glass and her original French frame. Measurements are noted on our photos. Taken through the glass and directly, both, for your review. That face is only 5/8", chin to hairline. So remarkable in all ways.
Very good to excellent condition, a mention of the far right of wafer, likely as it was when painted, and disappears when in frame. I see a tiny hairline at 6 o'clock position which is short, enters slightly to view in frame. No warp, beautifully preserved. Frame has some age, but then it is nearly 200 years old. A personal favorite.
