Portraits of children are rare. And of a child this beautiful, even more rare. I would judge her age to be about 4-6. A beautiful child with her ginger hair and blue eyes. Artist signed and dated, she is a little girl of her era (girl's hair parted in middle, boys at side), and wears a drop-waisted gown with a shirred off-shoulder, filled at neck with double lace collar and a bow.  I have no identity for her, but the artist might be researchable. Painting by a woman, It is signed "Adéle Hugé 1839".

Very good to excellent condition for age and type. Nicely framed in the original frame, a fine convex cover glass still in place. The portrait's wafer is fine, no splits, but out of the frame you can see it is a little bowed. It flattens into place in the anchors of the frame. I've shown a photo of it from side, though.
