Fabulous antique to vintage French PUIFORCAT hallmarked 18k gold on sterling silver âvermeilâ 12pc dessert, sorbet or demitasse sized tea spoon set with Aesthetic or Neoclassical style pattern, interlaced "CM" or "MC" monograms and wonderful condition! The pattern Neoclassical in style but Iâve not been able to find the actual pattern name if there is one, sometimes those of Puiforcat are simply a number. The shape similar to that named "Percier" but ever so slightly different in the details. Thick & heavy for their size, each bears the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number â1â within those marks means theyâre in .950 silver (95% pure so higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith marks are, of course, for the long lauded House of Puiforcat (EP, Emile Puiforcat). PUIFORCAT, successor to Jean-Baptiste Fuchs c. 1843, the pinnacle of French silver really and among a handful of names that are recognizable the world over. A long, lauded history of only the finest of the fine and silversmiths to royalty over the years. Now owned by Hermes of Paris, a name & reputation that also needs no explanation.
Very good to excellent condition. Some faint wear to the vermeil in the raised decoration is visible though all are as delicious as can be still. No bends, damage or repairs to note. They do come in the box shown though itâs not original to the set. See pictures for weights and measurements.
