Lovely antique French hallmarked sterling silver 3pc traveler's or solitaire sized coffee biggin or press, a side handled pot with original warmer base stand & lid and attractive guilloche style engraved or machined decoration! The base or stand would have a heating element of some sort so as to warm the contents when the pot rests on top. All three bear the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within those marks means they're .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). Silversmith marks are there and easy to see but I've not been able to find a definitive reference. The inside of the spout is covered with small perforations to act as a strainer so it could easily have been meant for tea. Possibly a coffee press, just what would have been an inner press piece. Whatever the original purpose, the style and complete nature of the set is rather rare. Perfect for the collectors and great as a single serving piece to take along with you in your travels.
Very good condition. A slight bump to the base of the pot but, as you can see, all three pieces are in wonderful condition. The handle appears to be removable but there must be some trick to sliding it out. See pictures for weight and measurements.
