Beautiful 19th century devotional, kiln-fired enamel on convex copper plaque, a little less than 3" in diameter. A portrait miniature of sorts. I bought this decades ago in France, I have no idea where or even how it was created. The really finest old enamels with this type of result are typically French or Austrian. Something about this one makes me feel it might have been some sort of process of multiple recreations of the same image. However, in all these years I've never seen another. Exquisites work, beautiful triple portrait. I bought it unframed and thus it remains.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, lots of images, the palette is almost reverently muted, pale skin. Isn't it a gorgeous old thing.
