Not perfect, but an authentic c.1860s "Jenny Lind" style hand fan, intricately carved bone guards and sticks remain strong and unbroken. Tassel is original, as are all of the individually cross-grain cut silk leaves and all those 180 year old sequins (some of the pique sequin dots on the old bone have gone missing - see images). I apologize that it's a bit dirty. I'm told spit and a q-tip is the perfect way to clean old bone, but all things considered, I'm sure you prefer to do this loving tase yourself. Good to very good condition for age and type, the old cross-grain cut feather-like leaves of the fan show fraying, typical of how they were made. They're still loaded with flashy mirrored silver sequins of an interesting form, and the bone guards and sticks remain in fine form after so long. Definitely bone, as you can see the elongated striation of the structure of the bone cells. The old original tassel shows its age. All considered in our price. I've owned this one for 20 years, I think, tucked into a crate of fans, having accrued over time to quite a collection, now to be disbursed. Watch for more.
