Lovely antique Victorian to early Edwardian era 28" wall barometer & thermometer with hand carved foliage or acanthus accenting, turned columns & spindles and wonderful visual & decorative appeal! Not actually Black Forest but the style similar with the carved foliage and the wood has a wonderful, aged patina to it. The aneroid barometer mounted in the bottom of the case, held with brass or glided bronze frame and original thick beveled glass, the centigrade thermometer mounted toward the top 'neck' section and displayed on an enamel on metal or copper plaque. No maker or retailer marks on the barometer, where we would find them if there, but the back of the wood case is die stamp marked "A8". A wonderful decorative accent!
Very good condition. I see no real damage or flaws. Living in perpetually sunny Southern California, we're not sure if the barometer or thermometer are accurate but there are no signs that they wouldn't be. See pictures for all measurements.
